AlphaSum requires limited, user-approved access to Telegram groups and channels in order to read and summarize content. By initiating this authorization, the user grants AlphaSum permission to retrieve messages from specific groups the user designates. The following points summarize key elements of this process:
AlphaSum relies on secure session credentials to gather messages solely from the groups that the user has explicitly whitelisted. Under no circumstances does AlphaSum read, record, or store chat data from non-approved groups.
The bot captures only the essential information needed to generate summaries (e.g., recent messages, timestamps, user handles), without retaining full chat histories unless necessary for designated features such as summary history or to-do list generation.
Because AlphaSum authenticates directly with the user’s Telegram session, the platform may list AlphaSum as a “new device” in Telegram’s settings. This designation is expected behavior designed to ensure transparency and enhance user security.
Further details regarding encryption and data handling practices may be found in the section of this documentation. Users are encouraged to review these provisions before proceeding with authorization.
